Jersey Mike's Restaurant Review

On this weeks Grease Pit Restaurant Review I have decided to talk about my experience at Jersey Mike's. One thing that made my visit to Jersey Mike's set apart from other fast food places was watching them make the sub sandwiches right in front of me. I have always appreciated the way that Jersey Mikes slices the meat you pick right in front of you which is a really good way to remind the consumer that this is fresh, and almost make it not feel like a fast food place. This is something that is similar to what I said in my review of Chipotle. Both stores share similar feelings that the food you are getting is fresh and overall, healthier than other options in the area. I have found that the extra care they put into making their sandwiches keeps me coming back rather than going to competitors such as Jimmy John's or Subway.

Additionally, the customization that Jersey Mike's provides is something that makes it special. They have perfected what toppings to put on a sub with the ability to get it "Mike's Way" which consists of onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices. These toppings are exactly what I want from a sub so personally, they have some of the best subs that you can buy anywhere, regardless of whether they are fast food or not. The toppings aren't the only exceptional part of the sub though, the bread is always fresh and they have a wide variety with my favorite being the rosemary bread. The one thing that is holding back Jersey Mike's in my opinion is the wait time. Throughout my visits to this location during college, this has always been an issue. What makes the problem even more frustrating is that the lines are not always long. So, when you go in and see a short line, most people expect the wait time to be short. At this Jersey Mike's for some reason this does not appear to happen most of the time. This takes what could have been a close to perfect score down to a 9 out of 10 rating.
